They punished war-crime prosecutors. Then they went after trans kids.
On Tuesday, human rights groups filed a lawsuit to stop Trump’s sanctions on the international court that prosecutes genocide and war crimes.
They say the order violates Americans’ rights to speak, organize, and practice their faith, and U.S. obligations under international law. The order targets the International Criminal Court, the only permanent court that tries individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, aggression, and war crimes.
The White House’s line: The White House says the court is illegitimate, a national security threat, and a tool for ‘lawfare’ against the U.S. and Israel.
Also Tuesday, Trump officials said Medicaid will no longer cover gender-transition surgery, puberty blockers, or hormones for minors. The move escalates the administration’s crackdown on transgender medical care ahead of the midterms.
Different targets. Same move.
Sanction the court that investigates war crimes. Pull care from a small group of families with a kid who needs help at home. Do it right before an election.
Power over fairness.
These moves do not fix anything in your town. They punish ICC prosecutors and try to divide voters. The lawsuit says the sanctions chill speech and association. The Medicaid change strips coverage from parents already stretched and scared.
You do not have to change your label to see this crosses a line. You can be center-right and still reject punishing war-crime prosecutors and cutting care for kids.
Set a line they cannot cross.
- Ask your House and Senate candidates if they support ICC sanctions or cutting trans kids’ care
- Share this with one center-right friend who values the rule of law
- Mark the midterm date and make a plan to vote
