Two sets of rules: Your tax dollars, their perks

A TV ad for President Donald Trump aired on cable with a “paid for by the U.S. government” label. Federal rules ban taxpayer-funded “publicity or propaganda.”

You paid for it.

If you lean right and care about rules, you don’t have to sign off on this.

The ad did not name the agency that paid for it. The screen label said it was paid for by the U.S. government.

Around the same time, the House voted to hold billionaire Leon Black in contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas in the Jeffrey Epstein inquiry.

Public money promoted the President. Leon Black, a billionaire, ignored congressional subpoenas.

Two sets of rules.

When the government uses your money to promote the President, it mixes public service with political spin. That breaks trust. It tells insiders that power comes first, not the public.

The contempt vote made that clear. If you are rich and well connected, you can ignore a lawful demand longer than any regular person ever could, and face fewer consequences.

This is favoritism.

You don’t owe your vote to people who use government to promote themselves while their billionaire friends defy Congress.

Keep your principles. Keep your standards. In 2026, replace the Republicans backing this so government answers to you again.

It’s a simple choice: rules for everyone, or perks for a few.

• Ask your representative what they will do to stop taxpayer-funded political ads and enforce subpoenas evenly.
• Share this with a neighbor who thinks powerful people still play by the same rules you do.
• Vote in 2026 to replace the officials who treat public power like a private perk.
