Four Days Without Water. Trump’s priorities broke the basics.
Sailors on a U.S. Navy destroyer went four days without drinkable water, working toilets, or air conditioning in the South China Sea.
The Washington Post reported last month that the Trump administration pushed the fleet into heavy use. On this cruise, the destroyer lost all power for four days.
Water. Toilets. Air.
Those failed when the power went out. Our people were stuck in brutal heat without basics most homes take for granted.
While crews suffered, Trump pushed the Navy to consider redesigning new aircraft carriers to match his preferred look. The Post says the change could cost billions.
He also cut back joint military exercises with South Korea and then defended it. He tied the move to South Korea not helping in the Strait of Hormuz and to his “good relationship” with North Korea, according to the Post.
The priorities are clear. Heavy use without fixing what breaks. Costly cosmetic changes to please the boss. Less practice with allies. And a destroyer that can’t keep the lights, water, or air on for its crew.
Those choices failed the people who serve.
If you’re a center-right voter who cares about a strong military, you don’t have to sign up for this chaos. You can back steady hands who fix pumps and wiring before paint jobs.
We can be competent. We can be safe. In 2026, we get a clean chance to change course. Use it.
- Ask your local candidates whether they support spending billions on cosmetic carrier redesigns while ships fail at sea
- Share this with a military family or veteran who expects competence, not chaos
- Plan your 2026 vote for leaders who fix basics first
