It would be awesome for you and all Americans to be able to rank their candidates. It’s a fantastic upgrade to democracy AND it would allow all voters to have their real feelings and beliefs heard. BUT our elections do NOT work that way. We don’t have Instant Runoff Voting for all elections across America. We must instead vote with our heads for the inauguration we must have.
Reflect on history – Ross Perot involuntarily sabotaged Bob Dole. Ralph Nader torpedoed Al Gore. And James Comey ruined Hillary (yeah I know not the same thing).
A vote for somebody other than Biden means one less popular vote to show the whole world, and especially MAGA, that we won’t tolerate any more supply-side tax-break hypocritical Christian Dominionist (look it up), Hamas baiting (yes Trump moved our embassy to Jerusalem), apocalypse believing, intolerant, anti-DEI, anti-woke, and insurrectionist supporting, “public servants”.
They say vote your heart in the primary and vote your head in the general election.
In this case, though, I think we should consider just Biden & Team all the way. The message has to be made clear that what the other side stands for is not the America that is best for America.
Don’t be swayed by concerns about Biden’s age. It’s about #TeamBiden and the positive strides they’ve already taken – lowering drug prices, passing an infrastructure bill, creating jobs, and finally fighting corporations, and the monopolies they are trying to form to become mega corporations. The UAW endorses Biden for a reason – he stands with them, the millions of working people, over the profiteering few and their lobbing for unregulated corporate greed.
But it isn’t just about Biden; it’s about recognizing the urgent need to address the threats posed by powerful corporations and the challenges of AI and automation. The failures of outdated economic policies are evident, and Biden’s administration is the beacon of change.
Every vote counts, especially against the backdrop of a media landscape that is “balanced” because they thrive and profit on a close race, not on policies or on what is best for America. Be the messenger. Propel Biden to victory, along with a Democratic-controlled Senate and House.
The alternative? The GOP has doubled down on intolerance and worse, failed economic theories as they tear down institutions without actual solutions to real hard problems we will continually face. For the GOP and Trump, it’s just NO to all abortion, NO to other religions, NO to LGBTQIA, NO to school lunches, NO to student debt problems, NO to medical debt problems, NO to getting rid of lead in our drinking water. “NO” is not a solution. Team Biden works with wisdom and knowledge to craft effective solutions for the real issues we face as a growing and progressing society.
And… if he should die in Office and Harris becomes president, it’s still better than any other outcome.
Imagine a future with fair elections, publicly financed campaigns, instant runoff voting, and non-partisan districts – it’s a vision worth striving for.
Until then, vote with your head, and rest assured, this time, your head and heart align because Biden genuinely cares with his lifetime of service to America. He is giving his life and the joy of retirement for America.
Watch his January 6 speech, be angered and inspired, and pay it forward. Enlist everyone (this IS the civil war) in this cause. If Joe Biden can do what he’s doing for America, so can you.
