GOP leaders duck Max Miller abuse probe fallout
Congress won’t police itself, trust cracks. This is an institution failing its first job.
Ohio Rep. Max Miller faces allegations he abused his ex-wife and toddler daughter. He denies it. House leaders didn’t ask him to step aside. Speaker Mike Johnson said it’s “not my business” and pushed it to the House Ethics Committee, which opened an investigation. Neither Johnson nor Donald Trump called for Miller to resign, even as his ex-father-in-law, Sen. Bernie Moreno, said Miller isn’t fit to serve, according to the Washington Post.
This isn’t gossip. It’s governance. When leaders won’t draw a basic line on alleged violence, they tell every victim they’re on their own — and they tell abusers that power beats rules. While the inquiry crawls, a member under an ethics probe still votes on your family’s safety, schools, and rights. Due process matters. So does the courage to say: step aside while we find the facts.
They protect power, not people.
If they won’t clean their own house, we will. You do not have to become a Democrat. You do have to stop Republicans from finishing this. In 2026, vote them out.
