NC mail-ballot rules challenged as Supreme Court blocks Missouri GOP map again
North Carolina can toss your mail ballot if the inner envelope is unsealed, even when the outer one is sealed. A new federal lawsuit challenges that rule.
Voting-rights groups and several voters sued on Sept. 22 to stop the new rules before November. More than 81,000 people had already requested absentee ballots when they filed.
The suit says counties now have unclear signature checks, and many voters may not get time to fix a rejected ballot or vote in person.
In Missouri, the U.S. Supreme Court just refused for the third time this month to revive a Trump-backed congressional map.
The justices said swapping maps this late would cause “electoral chaos” and kept the 2022 lines in place.
Ballots are already printed and mailed, and absentee, military, and overseas voting has begun.
Republicans pushed a 2025 map to try to add a seventh U.S. House seat, reshaping Kansas City’s 5th District.
We flagged this on Sept. 27. Republicans tried to lock in more power with that redraw.
Trump blasted the court for saying no. Republican officials kept pressing anyway.
Republican leaders keep changing the rules on you.
When leaders rewrite ballot rules or districts after voting starts, regular people pay in confusion and lost votes.
Courts are stepping in to stop last-minute switches that would confuse voters.
You do not have to love Democrats to see this crossed a line.
If you want fair maps and clear rules, stop the Republican leaders pushing late changes and restrictive tricks.
Vote in 2026 to take away their power to game the process.
Ballots are already out.
Keep the rules fair. Count every valid vote.
