In Wisconsin, a new court filing says the congressional map was built to protect incumbents and avoid competition. Law Forward and the Election Law Clinic at Harvard Law School asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to undo a dismissal and send the case to a three-judge trial panel, ahead of Sept. 16 arguments. The filing answers the Wisconsin Legislature and a group of Republican members of Congress who defend the current map. The brief says the state constitution lets courts step in on maps that block competition and protect officeholders from voters. In New Jersey, a local report flagged a voter purge around Newark. When billionaires flood elections and maps are drawn to shield incumbents, your vote counts less.
